Andres came to the United States to work. In Toluca, Mexico, where he lived, people returning from the United States had described the “American dream” to him, and Andres wanted to follow that dream. He and his wife Maria set off on their journey to Kentucky, where a distant relative lived. Neither could speak any English, and Maria was pregnant. “It was a very difficult trip but not impossible,” says Andres.

Altered Career Plan Nets Noble Contributions
Tim always worked hard for what he wanted. He earned his high school diploma, and developed an ambitious career plan to be a congressional representative's aide in Washington, DC. Born with cerebral palsy, his career path wasn't easy, and following a nervous breakdown during his senior year in college, doctors told him he would never hold a job. But he finished his degree in political science and then turned to Goodwill for help finding work.
