Goodwill Auctions Authentic Edouard Cortès Painting

Rare Painting Fetches $40,625 Bid at Sotheby’s Auction House

Baltimore, MD – An authentic oil on canvas by French painter Edouard Léon Cortès has sold for $40,625 at Sotheby’s auction house in New York. The painting, given by an unknown donor to Goodwill Industries^® of the Chesapeake (Baltimore), depicts the flower market at the Place de la République in Paris.

Edouard Cortès (1882-1969) is best known for his diverse scenes of the streets and monuments of Paris, capturing the city in all its seasons. His paintings hang in dozens of galleries around the world.

Proceeds from the sale of donations to Goodwill fund job training and other support programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of people each year.
